background
The age of anonymous internet commentary has exposed the underlying sexism that exists in huge numbers below the surface... Such comments not only fuel & compound sexism, but also delegitimize the victims of sexual assault. Spawning a conversation and vernacular that has even bled into politics, dismissed as “boys being boys”, or just “Boy Talk”.
*Visuals used are mocks
The idea
Venus wants to prove that a woman’s look, outfit, skin-shown, or attitude is never an excuse for “Boy Talk”. We want to expose the absurdity of this scapegoat, while simultaneously helping to prevent the real harm of #BoyTalk.
*Although we ended up producing this radio spot internally, client decided to go in a different direction.
Radio Script :60
Double-you-tee-eff did she expect to happen?
You can’t cry rape in that short-ass skirt
In that tight of a shirt
With that T&A
How is it his fault? She’s dressed like a hooker
You don’t need a ‘yes’ in that slutty dress
Hash tag the-slut-who-cried-rape
You can grab ‘em by the …
See you next Tuesday
That’s what you get for being a skank
She was asking for it
She’s a lying whore
A bimbo
A slut
A dog
A five
A zero
What? … It’s just boy talk
Just boy talk
Boy talk
This is NOT just boy talk.
These are real tweets. And you don’t need boys reading them to know this kind of talk leaves a real impression on them.
What a woman wears or shows is never an excuse for assault.
